Merging technology and literacy is a passion of mine. I am super excited to be able to help equip teachers with the tools necessary to merge the two. In the past there have been many who thought technology and literacy were arch enemies. There must be an incorporation of technology to engage students in literacy. Looking for a new way to create digital media from screen shots. Screenr allows the user to use the monitor as a video camera and capture that which is on the screen while adding audio to the recording. The implications are plentiful. The user can create photo stories, bring PowerPoints to life and written text. I have used this to teach lessons in the classroom as well as provide assistance to absent students. Instead of having to reteach the same lesson the teacher is able to use resources efficiently.

Ever considering creating a video slideshow. I created one of rural America to introduce a book called "Blood Done Signed My Name". The pictures of the South in the 60s with a soundtrack including Sam Cook and the Blind Boys of Alabama sparked their interest. They were enthusiastic about learning the materials after seeing the video. When I allowed several of the students to borrow the 2 copies I had they all came back and said they could see scenes from the video as they read the book. An interesting way to incorporate literacy and technology.
Xtranormal - Bring Stories Alive
Using Avatars and text bring your stories to life. What a way to create buzz about a story. This website allows the user to choose the scene, avatars, movements and text. This can be used as a project to replace the traditional book report. It could also be used to create commercials about the books or present the books in group presentations.
A wealth of interactive flash cards are at your fingertips. Students can use these flashcards to study vocabulary, introduce vocabulary or create new ones based on the books they are reading.
Create funny talking animal videos. The possibilities are endless. This resource is so easy to use that it only takes about 30 seconds to create and publish your own blabberize.
Does your school have user friendly teacher websites. If not you can get a user friendly, flash ready website through teacher weebly. This site has been designed especially for teachers and allows the user to create an extremely user friendly format to create a workable teacher site.

Graphic organizers meet technology. The possibilities of this resource are limitless in the classroom. It is an interactive corkboard, graphic organizer, collaboration tool and so much more. Students can organize thoughts on stories and in real time post comments and get feedback. This is a really cool site to explore.
Teacher Cast
YouTube blocked in your school. Add your favorite videos, podcasts and your newly created screen casts to teacher cast and be able to view them in the classroom. This is a powerful resource to incorporate multimedia in the classroom.
Edmodo
You you ever consider an online classroom. Using Edmodo the teacher can create a online environment. The capabilities of this environment are numerous. In my current classroom we use it fro blogging, assignments, assessments, collaboration and much more. You are able to assignment and assess assignments with feedback. I challenged myself to decrease paper consumption and I went from using 3 cases a semester to at this point I have only used 4 reams of paper. This is a great tool.
